Water treatment

Why do I need a water filter

You may be asking, “Why do I need a water filter?” Water can contain sediment, chemicals, and all sorts of impurities that affect the taste and smell of water. Installing a water filtration system can give you healthy, clean drinking water. And when water smells and tastes better, you’ll find yourself drinking more. Here, we provide helpful information about all things water. From water treatment FAQs and a water term dictionary, to explanations of the four general methods for treating water.

Why You Need Home Water Treatment

Even if you don’t drink the recommended eight glasses of water a day, you still rely on your home water system for almost everything. From washing your clothes to washing your fruit and vegetables and cooking, your home tap water makes a huge difference in your life. Ntesco has products and systems that improve this valuable, useful resource for all homes featuring Ntesco treatment systems that remove impurities in tap water, saving you time and money in the long-run, and improving your health.

Home water treatment systems make your tap water even safer to drink than bottled water. In addition to contributing to massive pollution and littering problems in our oceans and elsewhere, bottled water is much more expensive than the tap water coming out of your faucet. And you’d have to purchase many more bottles to do your laundry, do your cooking, and more.

Bottled water typically uses reverse osmosis to purify the water for human consumption. This process leaves the water much cleaner than tap water, which can be affected by deteriorating pipe systems with heavy metals like lead, but it leaves the water more acidic than what is recommended for your body.

The body keeps its bloodstream close to the center of the basic-acidic scale, making the blood inhospitable for pathogens that prefer a more acidic environment from building up and causing problems, and making it easier for the body to transport nutrients.

But isn’t bottled water good for you?

Reverse osmosis usually leaves the water more acidic, making it more difficult for the body to absorb and add to the bloodstream. This is why sometimes, when drinking bottled water, you can’t seem to keep it in your body long enough. Reverse osmosis also breaks water down at the molecular level, leaving behind free radicals, or bits of incomplete water molecules that can leech into your body’s cells and cause cancer over time.

Ntesco has water treatment systems that remove not only the impurities in tap water, but also create safer water than bottled water you’d find at the store.

Our water treatment system uses reverse osmosis to cleanse tap water of all impurities like heavy metals and potentially harmful chemicals, then filters it again using an alkaline filter, which helps bring the water back to a more basic acidity level, making it easier for your body to absorb and use. This filtration system can be recharged when it loses its effectiveness, making it unnecessary to replace frequently.

Tap water and bottled water won’t hurt you overnight, but eight glasses a day of water with even a small amount of harmful chemicals and metals will create buildups of toxins in your body. Untreated water can also damage your clothes, your food, and even your plumbing over time.

It’s difficult to notice at first. Don’t risk it. Get a water treatment system for your home and save your health and your money in the future.

Home Water Treatment Systems

People have become increasingly concerned about the quality of their water, including the possibility of contamination with hazardous substances. Sources of this contamination are solvents, pesticides, household cleaners, industrial wastes, and underground storage tanks. Chemical compounds, including methylene chloride, trichloroethylene (TCE), lindane, benzene, chlorobenzenes, carbon tetrachloride, and vinyl chloride have also been found in water supplies.

Chlorination of drinking water can produce trihalomethans (THMs), which may be a cancer causing substance, according to some research. Radon, a radioactive decay product of natural uranium, is found in groundwater as well as in the air of buildings and have been correlated with an increase in lung cancer.

Home Water Filtration Systems

Even though your water source is deemed safe by the EPA, in most cases water must travel a long way to reach your home. Along the way it can pick up bad tastes and odors which are caused by chlorine, low pH, sediment, iron, sulfur and manganese. In addition, the minerals and chemical compounds found in unfiltered water can be hard on your home’s plumbing system and major appliances such as dish washers and washing machines.

Biological Filter Systems

Biological filter systems use air to assist microorganisms, worms and beetles to break up organic material in wastewater with very little or no odour. Typical systems use a single chamber and two pumps, one for wastewater and one for air.

Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems

AWTS treat wastewater to a secondary standard (a higher standard than septic tanks and composting toilets), so that the effluent can be used for irrigation on your property. AWTS use several pumps and are more complicated than septic tanks, and require more frequent maintenance.

Membrane Processes

Membrane processes generally refer to a broad range of membrane types: microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO). The first two are simple solids separation techniques, with the latter two providing molecular separation of organics or even salts. A large array of experience exists in applying all of these membrane processes in pressure vessels, as shown in the water reuse campus in Scottsdale, AZ. There, the largest of more than 20 municipal reuse facilities in the US treats up to 10 mgd of raw sewage to potable quality for aquifer recharge trough MF and RO operated in series.

It's not wastewater . It's resource water

Water is one of the world’s most valuable resources, yet it is under constant threat due to climate change, population growth, and waste. One of the most promising efforts to help with the water crisis is municipal wastewater reuse.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Technology Update

The handling of power plant water and wastewater is becoming increasingly complex. Fortunately, innovative treatment technologies can help. Recent advances include forward osmosis, membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment systems, and reverse osmosis membrane improvements.

Effluent water treatment from fish farms

Effluent water treatment from fish farms

Wastewater from fish farms and production plants constitutes pollutants that may harm the receiving water resources. Treatment of discharges is hence often a necessity to ensure sustainability of fish production facilities. Effluent treatment will typically constitute processes for removal of major pollutants such as organic matter, suspended solids, ammonia nitrogen and bacteria/virus. Ntesco offer a wide range of treatment solutions for these objectives. Typical unit processes may include:

Recycle Water Technology

MBR is a new-type water treatment technology, integrated with membrane separation unit and biological treatment unit. Membrane modules are used instead of secondary sedimentation tank in the bioreactor to maintain high activated sludge concentration and reduce the land area of wastewater treatment facility and the sludge amount through maintaining low sludge load.

The MBR membrane can completely block and retain the microorganisms in the bioreactor through its filtration function, which achieves the complete separation between the hydraulic retention time and activated sludge age, thus avoiding the sludge expansion problem of conventional activated sludge process. Compared with conventional biological water treatment technology, MBR technology has the following main characteristics including high treatment efficiency, good outlet water quality, compact equipment layout, small footprint, easy automatic control and easy operation management

Wastewater regeneration

"Water which, having already been used by the party producing it, and before being returned to public channels, is applied to other successive uses". Therefore, it consists of reusing water that has been treated following a "regeneration" process.

Desalination of salt and seawater

As its name indicates, desalination consists of separating the salt from feedwater to obtain product water of a higher quality. Product water is often destined for human consumption (drinking water) or for other purposes, including industrial or farming activities.

Scale-Inhibition and Corrosion Control

Scale typically occurs when minerals in produced water surpass saturation limits as pressures and temperatures change. Both scale buildup and corrosion can take a variety of forms, but when found in and on pipes, wells, tubing and equipment, the results are largely the same; reductions in flow rates, production and efficiency losses, and often damaged equipment and replacement costs.

Bacteria and Biofilm Control

From oil and natural gas wells to nuclear power plants, shipping vessels to cooling and boiling water cycles, biofouling – particularly microfouling – is a real, persistent and costly threat to industries around the world.

Sewage Wastewater Treatment Solutions

Sewage can be a significant source of water pollution – a hazard to both human health and aquatic environments. Despite this, municipalities and industries around the world regularly discharge raw sewage into surface water. Chemical-free Ntesco technology can help these organizations cost-effectively treat sewage to produce environmentally safe effluent that is either reusable or suitable for discharge.

Agricultural Water Reclamation Solutions

As the global population climbs upward, the demands on commercial agriculture increase. This demand results in the consumption of greater amounts of water and, as this water is consumed, both wastewater streams and regulatory requirements increase. Effective wastewater management has become inseparable from running a successful agriculture business.
